April 2025 Platform Release Notes

April 2025 Release Notes

Important Update

Limited plan decommissioned on March 27 for new sign-ups

Effective March 27, the HERE Limited Plan has been officially decommissioned for new customers.

What does this mean for those looking to get started with our platform?

  • Sign-Up process update: New customers must now sign up for the Base plan if they want to test HERE services and SDKs. The Base plan requires entering a payment method during the onboarding process to access our platform.
  • Free tier access: Once the payment method is provided, customers will automatically gain access to the Base plan and the included free monthly transactions. Check out the HERE pricing page for more details.

Impact on Existing Customers

There are no current planned changes for existing Limited Plan customers and access to the services made available under the Limited plan will not be affected. However, we are continuing to evaluate future alternatives for existing Limited plan users.

HERE Map Content v2

The following layers have been made available

  • Topology Attributes ( layer ID topology-attributes ) publishes all road network attributes currently published by the following layers:
    • Road Attributes
    • Navigation Attributes
    • Advanced Navigation Attributes
    • Recreational Vehicle Attributes

This modified grouping of attributes into a single layer will reduce consumer I/O significantly.

All four layers replaced are marked as deprecated, but there is no date set yet for removal.

Going forward, any required attribute adjustments will be made available in the existing layers as well as the targeted attribute layer.

  • Topology Tile Intersections ( layer ID topology-tile-intersections ) which publishes:
    • References to tile overlapping topology segments
    • Overlapping tiles for applicable topology segments
  • Topology Replacements ( layer ID topology-replacements ) explicating topological replacements resulting from the addition or removal of intersections.

Note that the layers Topology Tile Intersections and Topology Replacements are experimental and aren’t considered ready for production use.

HERE will continue to monitor usage and feedback for these layers.

HERE platform

Pipeline Management: automatically deactivating batch pipelines after 10 retry failures

In order to reduce costs to pipeline owners generated by unattended, failing pipelines, Pipeline Management now deactivates batch pipelines that experience 10 consecutive job failures.

Affected batch pipelines include only those pipelines with the execution mode 'scheduled' (both on cron or on data change) and must contain a contact email address.

HERE SDK 4.21.3.0

The following updates are available for HERE SDK 4.21.3.0:

  • Navigation: Added the SafetyCameraWarningOptions.enableTextNotification option to enable or disable optional text notifications emitted via EventTextListener when approaching safety cameras.
  • Added AssetsManager to register custom and fallback fonts. Once registered, the font name can be used in the SVG text tag as the font-family attribute during creation of a MapImage with ImageFormat.SVG
  • OfflineSearchEngine: Added support to filter EV stations by PlaceFilter.EV.currentType and PlaceFilter.EV.minPowerInKilowatts
  • Added filtering of place chains using CategoryQuery.includeChains(...) and CategoryQuery.excludeChains(...).
  • Added suggestions of type SuggestionType.chain to offline search autosuggest results.
  • Search: Filters in PlaceFilter.EV are now available to all customers. Note that this feature is also supported by the OfflineSearchEngine, if available for your edition.
  • Map view: Added gradient support for MapPolyline with progress to customize route-eat-up during turn-by-turn navigation. The transition between MapPolyline.lineColor and MapPolyline.progressColor can now be rendered gradually. The length of this transition can be set and retrieved using MapPolyline.progressGradientLength, specified in zoom-level-dependent pixels.
  • Released a new version of the HERE SDK Reference Application. Version 1.13.0 includes support for HERE SDK 4.21.0.0, including an upgrade to Flutter 3.27.2 (previously 3.24.3), and Dart 3.6.1 (previously 3.5.3), along with minor fixes and other improvements.
  • Removed support for the deprecated Embedding v1 API for Flutter/Android from the HERE SDK plugin. This API has been deprecated for over six years. Starting with Flutter 3.22, the Flutter tool no longer supports building v1 apps.
  • The latest supported Flutter version was raised from 3.27.2 to 3.27.4. The latest supported Dart version was updated accordingly from 3.6.1 to 3.6.2. The minimum supported Flutter version was raised from 3.24.5 to 3.27.4, too. The minimum supported Dart version was updated accordingly from 3.5.4 to 3.6.2. Other versions may also work but are not guaranteed to be supported. This means that we currently support only Flutter 3.27.4 and Dart 3.6.2. Flutter 3.29 isn’t yet supported, as it introduces changes to the threading model that may cause the application to freeze. The HERE SDK plugin is now built with the minimum supported Flutter version 3.27.4 and Dart version 3.6.2.

HERE Tour Planning API

The HERE Tour Planning API adds the following new features:

  • “Eager” delivery - You can now prioritize completing deliveries as quickly as possible with the eagerDelivery feature. This feature focuses on serving delivery jobs sequentially to perform each delivery as early as possible rather than waiting to make them during the return trip.
  • Serve jobs in clusters - serveInClusters optimizes delivery routes by grouping jobs that are geographically close. The API prioritizes completing deliveries within specific clusters or areas before moving on to other clusters. This prevents vehicles from having to return to the same area multiple times.
  • Shift tags - You can tag the the start and end locations of a shift, making it easier for dispatchers and fleet managers to quickly identify key locations. This enhances usability and reduces errors when interpreting results.
  • Taxi profile - You can now use a profile specifically tailored for routing and planning trips for taxis. The profile considers streets that are restricted to taxis and those reserved for exclusive taxi access. However, it does not account for exclusive lanes on shared streets. Taxi-exclusive streets are used only if either the starting point or destination is on them.
  • exclude.areas profile option - You can define bounding boxes for areas to specifically exclude from routing.
  • seasonalClosure option in AvoidFeatures - Through this option, you can avoid roads or areas that are closed during certain seasons.
  • trailerCount option in VehicleOptions and CarOptions - This option allows you to specify the number of trailers that are attached to a vehicle. This can affect the types of roads the vehicle can travel on.
  • weightPerAxleGroup option in VehicleOptions - This option enables specifying the weight distribution across different axle groups of a vehicle to ensure that the vehicle complies with road regulations and weight limits, which can vary depending on the region or road.
  • speed option in the pedestrian profile - This option allows you to set the walking speed of a pedestrian.

For more information about these improvements, see the HERE Tour Planning API Reference.

HERE Vector Tile API v2.3.39-2.3.42

The following updates are available for HERE Vector Tile API v2.3.39-2.3.42:

  • Added the all_tpr truck/transport property for preferred routes to the advanced roads layer.
  • Added the microhood kind_detail to the administrative labels of kind neighbourhood in the places layer.
