August 2024 Platform Release Notes

August 2024 HERE Technologies platform release notes

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • This is a reminder that the HERE Map Tile API v2 and the HERE Map Image API v1 are deprecated, i.e. no longer commercially available for new customers and renewals. The map update frequency is reduced to "monthly" and "quarterly" respectively.
  • To take advantage of the new map rendering services functionality, please upgrade to the successor "tile-based" product HERE Raster Tile API v3 or a client-side rendering product HERE Vector Tile API v2.
  • For static image functionality, please upgrade your application to HERE Map Image API v3.
  • Raster Tile API v3 and Map Image API v3 are only available on the HERE Platform Portal. Customers with a HERE Developer Portal account should migrate to the HERE Platform Portal first.
  • HERE Map Tile API v2 and HERE Map Image API v1 will be retired on 30.09.2024.
  • Map Image API v3 is not included in the HERE Asset Plan. Asset Plan customers with an active subscription can still upgrade to Map Image v3 and continue to use it instead of v1 under the same terms and conditions until the end of the existing subscription. After renewal, new Asset Base Plan licensing terms will apply and Map Image v3 usage will be billed separately.

HERE Geocoding and Search API 7.124

Improve operational efficiency with a set of Reverse Geocoder enhancements. We added features to the Reverse Geocoder that collectively empower you with a richer, more precise understanding of road networks and location context.

  • Enhanced location accuracy with the inclusion of Unnamed Streets: By incorporating unnamed streets in Reverse Geocode results, our service now provides a more complete and accurate representation of all possible asset and user locations, ensuring you have access to every road detail, even those roads are not named.
    API: with=unnamedStreets
  • Improved Reverse Geocoding precision: Bearing information allows you to track your fleet’s positions more accurately.
    API: bearing=<degrees>
  • Data integration capabilities, enabling easy cross-referencing with other data applications or services:
    • Retrieve administrative identifiers (PVIDs) from the Reverse Geocoder.
      API: showMapReferences=adminIds

    • Map version (DVN) shows what latest map update is included for a country.
      API: showMapReferences=cmVersion
  • Detailed road attributes: The Reverse Geocoder now includes detailed road access information, such as permissions for automobiles, buses, and taxis, along with physical road characteristics like bridges, paved surfaces, and private roads.
    API: showNavAttributes=access,physical
  • Functional road classification, Functional Road Class (FC1-5): Understand the classification of roads for better planning and optimization of routes, from highways to local streets.
    API: showNavAttributes=functionalClass
  • Navigational insights and location context:
    • Compass direction of roads: Understanding the heading of an asset assists in accurately tracking of an asset.
      API: showNavAttributes=travelDirections

    • Nearest cross streets (intersections): For on-demand ride sharing, it helps drivers and passengers locate each other more easily. For real estate, understanding proximity to major intersections can influence property values and desirability. For emergency services, identification of intersections helps reaching the destinations faster and more efficiently.
      API: showRelated=intersections

HERE Routing API  8.108.2

  • Added physical consumption model (alpha) for EV consumption.
  • New algorithm is now used for calculating alternative routes for most transport modes (with the exception of pedestrian, bicycle, and scooter). The new algorithm is able to find alternative routes in significantly more situations, with notable improvements for truck mode. The quality of alternative routes is also often improved.
  • Added an option to specify charging station details on via waypoints, to allow manual creation of EV charge-aware routes.
