December 2024 Platform Release Notes

December 2024 HERE Technologies platform release notes

Important information - HERE Map Tile API v2 and HERE Map Image API v1

As previously announced, the HERE Map Tile API v2 and the HERE Map Image API v1 have reached their end-of-life and are being deprecated. Decommissioning will begin in Q1 2025, and the services may be discontinued at any time during this period.

HERE recommends migrating to HERE Raster Tile API v3 and HERE Map Image API v3, as service disruption may occur when using deprecated services.

HERE Map Content v2

Places layers removal

Per previous messaging, the following deprecated layers will be removed on December 16, 2024:

  • Places for HERE Essential Map (layer ID: here-places-essential-map)

  • Fueling Stations (layer ID: here-fueling-stations)

You can switch to the generic Places layer (layer ID places) that also publishes the applicable attributes.

Places layer ID change

Per previous messaging, the layer ID for Places content has changed from here-places to places.

The original here-places layer will be removed from the catalog on December 16, 2024.

HERE platform

Final notice and action required - Deprecated pipeline runtime environments for stream and batch pipelines are no longer supported as of January 15, 2025.

The deadline for deprecated pipeline runtime environments has been extended from June 27, 2024 to January 15, 2025.

Per announcements included in the Pipelines API Changelog on January 24, 2022 (for Stream Pipelines), on December 19, 2023 (for Batch Pipelines), and in the June 2024 release notes, HERE is providing a final notice that all deprecated pipeline runtime environments will be deleted on January 15, 2025. This represents the end of the deprecation period.

For more information, see the following changelog deprecation notices:

The list of deprecated pipeline runtime environments include:

  • Stream environments with the IDs stream-2.0.0, stream-3.0.0, stream-4.0.
  • Batch environments with the IDs batch-2.0.0, batch-2.1.0, batch-3.0.

All existing, running, scheduled, and paused jobs using deprecated runtime environments will be shut down as of January 15, 2025. All new requests to create and activate pipelines for these environments will fail.

Required Action:

All pipelines must be migrated to the latest supported runtime environments (either batch-4.0 or stream-5.0) before January 15, 2025.

For more information, see the migration guides for the latest environments:

https://www.here.com/docs/bundle/here-workspace-developer-guide-java-scala/page/topics/dependency-management.html#scala-migration-guide.

Breaking Change and Action Required - 6-month deprecation notice:

Starting May 1, 2025, the Contact field for all Spark and Flink pipelines available from the HERE platform / pipelines will be a required field. Pipeline Create and Pipeline Update operations will not be possible without first updating the Contact field. Automated CI/CD pipeline jobs will be impacted if you don't update the Contact field by May 1, 2025.

HERE recommends that you update the Contact field with a group distribution email rather than an individual email address to mitigate the risk of a single point-of-contact being responsible for your pipelines. Contact field information provides HERE with the ability to reach out directly to pipeline owners with future, critical deprecation notifications which help ensure that your data processing and business goals are not interrupted.

The Contact field is supported today, so you don't have to wait until May 1, 2025 to make this update. HERE recommends updating this field for all pipelines as soon as possible to avoid potential interruptions.

HERE Routing API v8.120.3 - 8.121.0

The latest version of HERE Routing API v8 introduces the following updates:

  • Added currentWeightChange for waypoints. This lets users specify changes to the load being carried at waypoints, which is then used for computing routes and consumption.
  • Expanded the country list supporting state exclusions (exclude[states]). States located within countries can be avoided in most countries.

HERE SDK 4.20.5.0

HERE SDK 4.20.5.0 for iOS, Android and Flutter is a minor release for the 4.20 code line that provides many bug fixes and improvements based on customer feedback, alongside the following new features:

  • Navigation: Gujarati and Tamil voice packages have been released and are now available for navigation purposes.
  • Navigation: Added Lane.directions and Lane.directionsOnRoute to indicate which lane directions follow a route. Lane.directions lists all lane directions that are available for a given lane.
  • Offline Routing: Added support to avoid segments in offline routing. The AvoidanceOptions.segments field can be used with the OfflineRoutingEngine to define segments that should be avoided during route computation.
  • Positioning: Data enabling calculation of position estimates locally is persisted between application usage sessions. This reduces the number of cloud API calls.
  • Search: Added new attributes to EVChargingStation to provide more detailed connector information, including:
  • occupiedConnectorCount : Number of connectors currently in use.
  • outOfServiceConnectorCount : Number of connectors out of service.
  • reservedConnectorCount : Number of connectors reserved.
  • lastUpdated : Timestamp of the last update for availableConnectorCount and occupiedConnectorCount.

For more information, see the changelog for your HERE SDK edition and platform.

HERE Tour Planning API

The latest version of the HERE Tour Planning API introduces the following enhancements:

  • Specify up to five levels of priority for jobs, with 5 being the lowest priority setting. This enhancement allows for a more effective and flexible allocating of resources, and establishes a clearer hierarchy of priority for addressing jobs. This is considered an ALPHA feature when you specify more than two priority levels within a problem.
  • Tailor tour planning to your specific business needs by implementing custom time-distance matrices. Custom time-distance matrices let you input times and distances that reflect your operational or local constraints and preferences, ensuring timely and efficient tour planning for your entire fleet. This is an ALPHA feature.

HERE Vector Tile API 2.3.31

The latest version of HERE Vector Tile API introduces the following update:

  • Added the all_hgv_restrictions, all_hgv_restriction_shield_texts, and all_hgv_time_restrictions attributes to describe cumulative Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) restrictions for the road segment of the Advanced Roads layer.
