Intunio's Design-Focused Mobility Solutions with HERE

In this blog post, we’ll explore the work of Intunio, a design and development agency based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Intunio specializes in creating beautifully useful digital experiences across many different industries such as automotive, medical technology, consumer electronics and more.

Intunio’s collaboration and partnership with HERE began roughly seven years ago. Their initial project involved using HERE SDKs to develop a unique truck navigation app and fleet management system specifically designed for Scania's small road carriers. Recently, at the HERE Tech Day in Amsterdam and UK, Intunio showcased their latest projects utilizing HERE technology – the Nira Dynamics RSA demo and RGNT demo.

The fact that the HERE SDK is available for many different platforms and is open to use for all of them often makes it a good choice.

Nira Dynamics RSA Demo: Enhanced Road Safety

The Nira Dynamics RSA Demo is an application designed for Android tablets and in-car use on Android Automotive. It uses the live data from Nira Dynamics and GPS data from the car or tablet to display road condition alerts for better road safety. Nira Dynamics collects a vast amount of sensor data from millions of vehicles around the world. This data is refined and packaged into services and products that help customers gain insights into road conditions and tire status.The app visualizes the data both in a trip planning mode and during driving.

During trip planning, drivers get an overview of the road conditions and a proactive approach to deciding which route to take.

After the driver decides on which route to take, the demo application changes mode into a driving mode. Here the app issues real-time alerts for upcoming conditions like slippery roads, potholes, and rough patches.

For this project, Intunio uses the HERE Android SDK to run the application on both tablets and in-car displays. They primarily use mapping and routing features and customize the map according to the designs created by their design team.

RGNT Motorcycles Companion App

Intunio designed and developed the RGNT Motorcycles companion app using the HERE SDK for Flutter. This app is used by RGNT motorcycle owners, allowing them to plan trips, taking Electric Vehicle (EV) range into account, and to monitor the SoC (State of Charge) remotely. Intunio uses HERE's EV routing features so that the drivers can visualize the range of the bike with isoline map for both one-way and return trips. The trips that are planned from the app can be sent to the screen of the bike. RGNT also uses HERE APIs and SDKs for their on-bike display unit, highlighting the versatility of HERE SDKs across various platforms.

Swanholm Sense: Safety for Road Workers

The Swanholm Sense application is a companion app to a smart safety vest, built for personnel like road workers and truck drivers. The vest helps in preventing workplace accidents and fatalities from poor visibility, falls, and lone work situations. When a person wearing the vest experiences a fall, the built-in AI in the vest detects the movement and activates lights to increase visibility. The mobile app alerts emergency contacts and shares their geographical location.

For the Swanholm Technology project, Intunio used the HERE SDK for Flutter to visualize the current position of the vest. They have also done a proof of concept of a "Digital Visibility" functionality where cars, trucks, etc, can be notified if people wearing the vest are on the road ahead.
