October 2017 Release Notification

A series of enhancements and updates to the HERE Platform services are now available on our production environment. These enhancements are related to the following services:

Geocoder API, Routing API, Traffic API, Custom Location Extension, Custom Route Extension, Platform Data Extension, Toll Cost Extension, Waypoints Sequence Extension and Mobile SDKs for Android and iOS.

Summary of enhancements

  • Further geocoding improvements in Australia and Singapore
  • Isoline corridor search in Custom Location Extension
  • Pickup along a route in Waypoint Sequence Extension
  • New HERE Mobile SDK Release for Android and iOS with new mobile OSes support and other improvements
  • New HERE Platform Self-hosted Q3/2017 release
  • Launch of Mobile SDK User Interface (UI) kit

Below, you can find detailed information on these major improvements of the HERE Platform for Business services:

Geocoder API

Version 6.2.145

  • Australian Postal Code results have been improved.
  • Improvements in parsing of Micro Point Address queries in Australia.
  • Improvements in Singapore.

Routing API

Version 7.2.8.5

  • We increased in the speed profiles a medium truck maximum weight to 18 tonnes.

Custom Location Extension API

Version 2.1.6

  • New route + search function POIs along Route's Isoline. Compute a route and find all custom or map geometries reachable within N minutes or N kilometers detour from this route.
  • New route + search function Links along Route's Isoline. Compute a route and find all road links reachable within N minutes or N kilometers detour from this route.

Platform Data Extension API

Version 1.6.15

  • Proximity can now be called with a whole set of coordinates, not just one.

Waypoints Sequence Extension API

Version 3.0.3

  • New functionality Pickup along Route. Define optional way points where goods or passengers can be picked up and dropped off to earn money. The service decides which optional way points are worth visiting and in which order. Optimization is minimum cost. Cost is the sum of driver cost, vehicle cost, and the value gained from picking up and dropping off goods or passengers is subtracted from the cost.

HERE Android SDK

Starter Edition version 3.5

  • This version of the SDK has been updated to work with Android 8.0.

Premium Edition version 3.5

  • This version of the SDK has been updated to work with Android 8.0.
  • We have aligned CoreRouter.Connectivity (for routing) and Request.Connectivity (for Places search) and made their effects more consistent and predictable. With this change, you have more control over fallback and error scenarios.
  • Added Natural Language Processing (NLP) as a beta feature. NLP is only available in English.
  • Added support for search modes in Reverse Geocoder requests
  • Added beta feature to support route calculations based on fuel resource consumption.
  • Added the ability in HERE Positioning to automatically switch between community and private radiomaps.

HERE iOS SDK

Starter Edition version 3.5

  • This version of the SDK has been updated to work with iOS 11.

Premium Edition version 3.5

  • This version of the SDK has been updated to work with iOS 11.
  • Added support for Xcode 9
  • Added APIs to turn off rendering for certain levels of traffic flow.
  • Added the ability to enable GPX and Route Simulation in Guidance when the app is in the background.
  • Added beta feature to support route calculations based on fuel resource consumption.
  • Added support for search modes in Reverse Geocoder requests.
  • Added the ability in HERE Positioning to automatically switch between community and private radiomaps.

Mobile SDK User Interface (UI) kit

Version 1.0.0

  • The HERE Mobile SDK UI kit provides pre-built and production ready UI components to be used with the Mobile SDK for Business Premium Editions.
  • Version 1.0.0 of the UI Kit will mainly focus on route planning use cases including route and maneuver details.
  • The components are provided as a framework for iOS and a library for Android which developers can integrate in their project and reuse the pre build UI components to reduce development efforts.
  • All components are extremely customizable (also in terms of visuals) and due to the modular design flexible to use.
  • The HERE Mobile SDK UI Kit components are available for iOS and Android, supporting Java and Kotlin on Android, and Obj-C and Swift on iOS.
  • The required HERE Mobile SDK is version 3.4 or later.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

General Rules Related to HERE Materials and Applications

  • Inline with HERE Platform core terms, please ensure that the users of your application build on HERE Mobile SDKs Premium Edition constantly download the latest map version within a couple of weeks after the new map release has been available.

New incidents endpoint for Traffic API

  • In May 2017, new /traffic/6.2/incidents endpoint launched to support more incidents data
  • The old endpoint /traffic/6.1/incidents is still available and will be supported at least for 6 months.

Public Transit API refactoring

  • In April 2017, Public Transit API version 3.0.0 released, following refactoring of all endpoints to a new format. The API endpoint format have been changed from https://transit.api.here.com/metarouter/rest/routeservice/v2/<resource> to https://transit.api.here.com/v3/<resource>
  • For now, the coming releases will continue to support all deprecated endpoints (with old parameter names).
